He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Coley and Louise Penwell Coley; his sisters, Ella Little (Lyman) and Margaret Randall; and his grandson Michael Shawn Coley, Jr..

He is survived by: his sons, Michael Coley (Ruby) and Dennis Coley (Christine); his brother Lyle "Pete" Coley (Linda); his grandchildren, Christopher Coley (Danielle), Hayley Stroud (Brandon) and Brittany Whitfield; and his great grandchildren, Khloe, Michael Coley, Sutton Whitfield and Maddox Stroud.
