He was predeceased by: his siblings, Linwood Lewis, Robert Lewis (Shorty) and Barbara Wells. He is survived by: his parents, Robert Lewis and Bettie Lewis; his wife Chonlada Lewis (Charlie); his children, Johnny Lewis of Tarboro, Bobby Lewis and Amanda Brantley; and his grandchildren, Allison Brantley, Jackson Lewis and Olivia Lewis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
