He was predeceased by : his parents, Allan Sheppard and Barbara Ruth Sheppard (Barclay); and his brother David Sheppard. He is survived by : his wife Marna of Taylorsville; his daughters, Kendra Sheppard of Paxton, MA and Michelle Sheppard (Thomas Caywood) of Ashland, MA; his sister Barbara Giroux of DeLand; and his close friend Frank Masciulli of Ocklawaha, FL. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the ACLU.
