He was predeceased by: his parents, Raleigh Elbert Mitchell and Ida Mae White Mitchell; and his brother-in-law Earl Dagenhart. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Millsaps Mitchell; his daughters, Roxann Mitchell Foster (Terry) of Newton and Tamara Mitchell Odom (David) of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Matthew Foster (Jenn) of Newton, Daniel Odom, Averi Odom and Zoie Beth Odom; and his sister Betty Mitchell Dagenhart of Taylorsville.
