It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Richard Bumgarner (Taylorsville, North Carolina), who passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Butler Bumgarner and Laura Ellen Orren Bumgarner; his former wife Jewell Watts Bumgarner; and his siblings, Arthur, D. L., Norris, Horace, Herald, Sherman, Dock, Jack, Robert Bumgarner and Alice Eller.
He is survived by: his wife Christine Hemric Bumgarner; his sons, Richard (Brenda) and Greg (Tammy); his grandchildren, Shonda Barnes (Chris), Patsy Wilson (Ryan "Sid), Matthew Bumgarner (Kimberly), Lauren Deal (Zachary) and Michaela Chapman (Bryant); his great grandchildren, Alivia Schronce (Jacob), Levi Barnes, Riley Wilson, Tate Wilson, Sawyer Wilson, Ryder Wilson, Samuel Deal, Silas Deal, Stephen Deal, Seth Deal, Wren Chapman, Jade Chapman and Alexis Williams; his great great grandchildren, Emerie and Elsie Schronce; his brother Lindsay Bumgarner (Carol); and his sister-in-law Ruby Watts Bumgarner.
