He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Franklin Roberts and Bertha Davis Paynter. He is survived by: his spouse Gail Lyon Roberts; his daughters, Angel Nicholson (Lynn) of Statesville and Michelle Grit (Tracy) of Boone; his grandchildren, Raven, Maggie Nicholson, Bishop and Hylend Grit; and his brother Johnny Blankenship.
