She is survived by : the father of her children Robert Sumpter Sr. of Lenoir; her children, Robert Sumpter Jr. (Tina) of Lenoir, Steven Sumpter (Heather) of Taylorsville, Lynn Cooper (Justin) of Hickory and Iva Hipsher of Granite Falls; and her siblings, Roger Abernathy (Michelle) of Burke County, Glenn Abernathy of Burke County and Iris Poplin (Joe) of Burke County. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
