He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Franklin and Sarah Branch Franklin; his wife Carolyn West Franklin; his daughter Jill Fletcher; and his siblings, Earl, Floyd, Hubert, Arthur, David Franklin, Pauline Branch, Bessie Clark, Lula Jones and Wilma Conley.

He is survived by : his son Jeffrey Franklin (Cindy) of Morganton; his son-in-law David Fletcher of Valdese; his grandchildren, Katherine Fletcher, Rachel Franklin and Isaac Franklin; his great grandchildren, James Fletcher and Luke Franklin; and his sister Lorraine Key. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
