He is survived by : his wife Doris White Townsend; his daughters, Malinda Cox (Chris) of Columbus, NC and Melissa Pearce (Herb) of Conover, NC; his grandchildren, Kipp Cox (Marissa), Christen Smith (William) and Ian Freeman (Elizabeth); his great grandchildren, Elysia Smith, James Smith, Wyatt Cox and Finn Cox; and his brother Alvin Townsend (Christine) of Icard.
