He is survived by: his wife Judy Smith Ellis; his children, James Ellis of Grimesland, Nicholas Sleeis of California, Jessie Locklear of Lumberton, Elizabeth White of Vanceboro and Tiffany M. Henson of Vanceboro; and his sisters, Brenda Shepard of Ernul, Betty Warmack of Cove City and Rosie Ipock of Ernul. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
