He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Alford Horton; his sons, David, Jr. (Diane) of Bailey, Tony (Lisa) of Louisburg, Bruce and Randall Horton (Beth) of Wake Forest; and his grandchildren, Tina, Brad, Robbie, Chris, Randy and Zeke.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
