He was predeceased by: his son Joseph Allen Wells; his siblings, Mabel Carmichael, Alice Schratz and Wells Orphanage; and also Methodist Orphanage.
He is survived by: his wife Rosalee of Wake Forest; his children, Catherine McLean (Ronnie) of Wilmington, Eugene Wells (Marsha) of Elm City, Kimberly Carr (Rob) of High Point and Phil Wells of Hickory; his daughter-in-law Debbie Wells of St. Louis; and also, Jeremy McLean, Jennifer Bloech, Micah Wells, Marcus Wells, Angie Johnson, John Bumgarner, Ginger Lewis, Maria Carr, Robbie Carr and Christopher Carr.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Methodist Home for Children in care of Billy Griffin at 1313 Old Bramble Lane Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 or to Woodland Baptist Church.
