She was predeceased by: her parents, Bessie Newton Ray and Ollie N. Ray; her stepdaughter Inez Jean Swift; and her siblings, David "Herrod" Ray, Leonard "Dee" Ray, Juddie Ray, Owen Ray, Sally Ray and Avis Ridenour.

She is survived by: her daughters, Rebecca Williams of Wake Forest and Betty Jane Davis of Raleigh; and her stepchildren, Bobby J. Ray of Wake Forest and Lois Sherron of Wake Forest. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
