He is survived by: his wife Trudy Smith Payne; his children, Suzanne Payne Walker (Mike) of Danville, VA and Charles Oliver Payne; his stepdaughters, Robin Owen of Wake Forest and Tracey Owen (Claude) of Virginia Beach, VA.; his siblings, Muriel Payne (Alice) of Altavista, VA, Shelby Gillum (John) of Mason, OH and Louise Shanaberger of Richmond, VA.; and also Oliver.
