He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Edward Vestal Sr.. He is survived by: his friends, Rocky and Rick; his mother Lila Catherine Vestal; his daughter Catherine Vestal Coe (James); and his grandchildren, Annabelle, Elizabeth and Christian Coe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 4433 Bashavia Drive, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
