She was predeceased by: her parents, George Calvin Waller Sr. and Irene Waller; her brother George Calvin Waller Jr.; her niece Lisa Austin; her brothers-in-law, Robbie Hardwicke and Jackie Hardwicke; and her mother-in-law Hazel Bowling.

She is survived by: her husband Sid Hardwicke Jr.; her children, Kim Marx (Jon), Sydney DeWolf (Warren) and Jonathan Hardwicke; her grandchildren, Cooper Marx, Sutton Marx and James Pope; her siblings, Linda Bowlin (Larry), Earl Waller (Lisa) and Jeanie Acker (Frank); and her brother-in-law Gary Hardwicke (Barbara).

In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ruth's memory to the OSU Foundation-Cal Waller Jr. Scholarship or The Koinonia Foundation of Wake Forest.
