He was predeceased by: his parents, Anne Ugran Petretich and John Steven Petretich. He is survived by: his wife Mary Petretich; his brother John David Petretich (Denise Palus); his children, Christian Petretich (Sara) of Alexander, Virginia, Michael Petretich (Terri) of Georgetown and John Petretich (Susie) of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, Olivia, Aidan, Lucas, Russell and Maren.
