He is survived by : his children, Melvin Smith (Valencia), Michael McGowan, Christopher Smith (Flora), Woodell McGowan, Jr., Lakeisha Burnett (Maria), Teresa Bland (Rodney) and Marria McGowan; his sisters, Joyce Faye Bizzell and Joyce Ann Branch; his close friend Bertia Nixon; his extended family, Cheryl Pratt, Dwight Jones, Maria Burnett, Lamangalia Wilson and Frederick Bryant; and his goddaughter Kean'ia Herring. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
