He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Thara Wheeler and Vaughtie Wheeler; his siblings, Inice Smathers, Lillian Metcalf, Vernell Shuford, Roy and Gary Wheeler; and his granddaughter Rachel Williams.
He is survived by: his significant other Birdell; his children, Rita Ann Shuford (David) of Fairview, David Wheeler (Bobbi Jo) of Grover, Kimberly Shuford (Anthony) of Marion and Dale Wheeler (Melanie) of Canton; and his brothers, Gerald Wheeler (Oveda) of Canton, Earl Wheeler (Patsy) of Canton, Alvin Wheeler (Linda) of Canton and Russell Wheeler (Rita) of Greenville, TN. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Beth Eden Baptist Church (240 Hendrix St, Waynesville, NC 28786).
