With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Charlie Ponto Hensley Jr. of Weaverville, North Carolina, who passed away on June 1, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Charlie Ponto may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie P. Hensley, Sr. and Margaret Muse Hensley; his wife Clara Wike Hensley; his son Gregory Charles Hensley; and his grandson Jerad LaBlanc.
He is survived by: his daughter Karen Gibson of Weaverville; his siblings, Susan Buckner (Larry) and Donald Hensley (Becky); his grandson Brody Gibson; and his great grandchildren, Tyler, Alex LaBlanc and Spencer Massmann.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at the West Funeral Home (17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, NC 28787). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of West Funeral Home (17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, NC 28787).
