She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Johnston and Fannie Hartzog Johnston; her husband James; her grandson Matthew Barnes; and her siblings, Wendell Johnston, Gwyn Johnston, Bernice BeShears and Rachal Ward.
She is survived by: her children, Tim Ketner (Krista) of New Jersey, Jessica Hamby (Dennis) of Crumpler and Katrina Brock of Kingsport, TN; her siblings, Dale Johnston (Gail) of Lewisville and Ruby Watson (Kenneth) of Clemmons; and her close friend Janice Kimbro of West Jefferson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
