He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Hedrick Thompson Sykes, Sr., Margie Hogan Sykes, Jesse Bland and Agnes Smith Bland; and his uncle Chet Sykes.
He is survived by : his father Hedrick "Tom" Thompson Sykes, Jr.; his brother Matt Sykes (Whitney) of Raleigh; his nieces, Savannah Sykes and Clara Sykes; his uncle Jeff Bland (Barbara); his aunts, Drema Holder (Jim) of Burlington, Cathy Bland of Burlington and Jackie Sykes of Hillsborough; and his cousins, Sean Bland, Amy Derosia (Jeremy), James Holder, Jennifer Sykes and Cameron Sykes. He is also survived by other loving extended family and dear friends.
