He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lee Hamm Griggs; his sons, Timothy Griggs Sr. of Burlington, NC, Patrick Griggs (Corey Wooten) of Greensboro, NC, Mike Griggs (Lisa) of Burlington, NC and Scott Griggs (Anne) of New Bern, NC.; his grandchildren, Timothy Griggs Jr., Amber Griggs Harrison (Tyler), Katie Griggs Chung (Chun Chung), Lauren Griggs Bradshaw (Todd Bradshaw), Christopher Rhett Griggs (Jackie Griggs), Connor Alexander Griggs and Kathryn Alexandra Griggs; his great grandchildren, Zackary Bradshaw, Coralee, Coastal Harrison and Evangeline Chung; his brother Obeira Griggs; and his close friend Billye Harris.
