He was predeceased by : his parents, Avery Turner Whittington and Velna Myers Whittington; his brothers, Joe Donal Whittington and Ernest Whittington (Edsel); and his stepgreat-grandchild Khloee Faith Queen.
He is survived by : his wife Jo Anne Lenderman Whittington; his daughters, Debra Phillips of North Wilkesboro, Lu Anne Hudson of Winston-Salem and Cindy Smithey (Brian) of Moravian Falls; his brother Hubert Whittington of Jonesville; his grandchildren, Danny Phillips (Darla), Bobby Brooks and Elmon May; his stepgrandchildren, Robert Smithey (Tiffany) and Kendra Queen (Roger); his great grandchildren, David Phillips, Brooke Phillips, Paige Phillips and Clementine May; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Landon Queen, Karlee Queen, Aiyden Queen, Kyley Mathis, Laina Smithey, McKalya Lawson, Thomas Tevepaugh and Chance Tevepaugh; and his great great grandchild Daniel Lee Phillips. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
