He was predeceased by : his father Jason James Burgess; his son Xavier Lee Mendez-Burgess; his great-grandparent Alice Parsons; and his uncle Jonathan Parsons. He is survived by : his mother Destiny Faith Tate of North Wilkesboro; his daughter Alaia Faith Burgess; his stepson Abel Bentley; his grandparents, Sharon Burgess of North Wilkesboro and Larry Burgess of Lenoir; his siblings, Jabreaha Monay Kyle of North Wilkesboro, Secree Lenee Gourdine (Jimmy) of Mt. Airy and Kagen Depriece Harris of Wilkesboro; and his niece Syrae Gourdine.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Thankful Baptist Church, 324 Thankful Baptist Church Road, Boomer, NC 28606.
