He was predeceased by : his parents, Fletcher Nutt and Virginia Nutt; his brothers, Jeff and Tim Nutt; and his son Shawne.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Nutt; his son David, Jr. (Tonya) of Holly Springs, NC; and his granddaughter Miranda. He is also survived by several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his home church, Rawls Baptist Church located at 10665 US 401 North, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
