She was predeceased by: her parents, Hiram B. Hewett and Eunice Woodcock Hewett; her husband Jim Hinton of Wilmington, NC; and her son Douglas Keith Bergmann. She is survived by: her sons, David (Kathleen) and Donald Bergmann (Sheryl); and her stepdaughters, Debra McGee (Gary) and Jan Hinton (Phyllis). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
