He was predeceased by: his grandson Logan Jameson Moore; his parents, William Whetsell and Dora Heath Whetsell; and his siblings, Vernon Whetsell, William Whetsell and Mary Jane Whetsell.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Tillman Whetsell; his daughter Michele Whetsell Moore (Phillip) of Farmville; and his granddaughter Madison Moore Hackett (Cameron).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
