She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph P. Garner; her daughter Carolyn L. Garner; her mother Mollie Owens; her siblings, Nora Graham and Atha Williams (Sylvia Vick Williams); and her niece Kim Williams.
She is survived by: her sister Cleo Tippett (Wilbur) of New Bern; her sibling's children, Debby T. Thomas, Teresa W. Gardner (Troy), Gaddis Tippett (Donna) and Robbie Webb; and her friends, Sue Lamm, Dennis Toole and Ava.
