He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Clifton and Irene Tyndall Herring; his wife Mary Lou Aycock Herring; his children, Mary Lou Herring Webster (Oliver) of Troy, James Clifton "Chip" Herring III (Terri) of Columbia and Allison Elisabeth Herring Owen (Robert) of Cary; his grandchildren, Nicholas Raines Webster, William Corbett Webster, James Clifton "Jayce" Herring IV, Elise McCoy Herring, Elijah Wagner Owen and Wyatt Wakefield Owen; his brother Charles Tyndall Herring (Connie) of Grifton; and his nephews, Charles Tyndall Herring, Jr. of Winston-Salem and Alan Patrick Herring of Winston-Salem.
