He is survived by: his children, Ronald Simms of Wilson, NC, James E. Ward, Jr. of Wilson, NC and Fernice Sellars (Lesslie) of Wilson, NC; his grandchild Nitche Ward; and his siblings, Ernestine Ward of Washington, Martha Jane Ward of Washington and Leonard Ward, Sr. of Washington. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
