He was predeceased by: his wife Sue Vickers Daniels. He is survived by: his children, Tina Williams (Jeff) of Wilson, John Daniels, Jr. (Jeanie) of Wake Forest, Dennis Daniels (Jeanne) of Elm City and Jeff Daniels of Wilson; his grandchildren, Scott Williams (Meghan), Matthew Williams, Tyler Daniels (Megan), Hunter Daniels and Austin Daniels; his great grandchildren, Kylie and Jordan Williams; and his brother Barnes Daniels (Patty) of Winston-Salem.
