She was predeceased by: her parents, Mabel Murphy and Charles F. Gay of Greene County; her daughter Diane Norville Patterson Dayoe; her siblings, Earl Lassiter, Lyde Lassiter, Lyman Jones and Lucile Jones Shirley; and her stepgrandson Anderson Deans.
She is survived by: her aunt Dorothy Gay Jones (Bill) of Walstonburg; her husband William H. Deans (Billy); her son Dalton Norville (Cindy) of Wilson; her stepsons, Mike Deans (Jan) of Tarboro and Greg Deans of Tarboro; her grandchildren, Erin Lewis of Wilson and Rev. Wesley Patterson (Lindsie) of Wisconsin; her stepgrandson Strick Deans (Emily) of Tarboro; and her great grandchildren, Gwyneth, Oscar, Brynley, Eastyn, Rivers and Palmer.
