He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Atkinson and Estella Cobb Atkinson; and his siblings, Emma Lee Meeks, Alice Manning, Minnie Lee Barnes, Esther High, Ada Atkinson Harris, Walter "Jay" Atkinson, Jr., William "Buck" Atkinson and Bobby Ray Atkinson.
He is survived by: his children, Calvin Atkinson, Clifton Atkinson Jr. (Elisha) of Wake Forest, NC, Faye Atkinson Brown (John) of Raleigh, NC, Dee Atkinson Rasberry (James) of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Atkinson Caine (Michael) of Middlesex, NC, Janice Atkinson Pender (Reggie) of Wilson, NC and Patricia Atkinson-Cotton of Knightdale, NC; his sisters, Fannie Powell of Wilson, NC and Annie Doris Jones of Philadelphia, PA; his daughter Charlotte Bullock Atkinson of Wilson, NC; and his godson Timmie Britt Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC.. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
