He is survived by: his mother Peggy Woodard Swinson; his grandmother Eva Mae Alston of Saratoga, NC; his siblings, Eva Marie Alston Crumel of Sharpsburg, NC, Victoria Alston Ruffin of Wilson, NC and J. C. Alston, Jr. of Wilson, NC; his children, Tiffany Barnes and David Bynum, Jr.; and his close friend Emma Gray of Rocky Mt. He is also survived by ten aunts, eight uncles, two nieces, four nephews, two great nieces, six great nephews.
