He was predeceased by: his son Rudy Lynn Pittman; his parents, Atlas Pittman and Mittie Allen Pittman of Kenly; and his stepgrandson Kenneth Dwayne Pender of Eureka. He is survived by: his children, Gail Pender of Wilson and Wanda Moore (Gene) of Marshville; his siblings, Jean Wooten of Pikeville and Charles Pittman (Iris) of Kenly; his close friends, Robert, Jane and Kathy Sandifer; and also, Valerie Moody (Tim) of Wake Forest, Michele Reed of Rocky Mount and Jackie Hering (Ricky) of Fuquay Varina. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
