She was predeceased by: her husband J. D. Starling. She is survived by: her children, Paul "Duke" Starling (Cindy), Richard Starling (Rita) of Edgewater, Ricky P. Starling (Marci) of Elm City, William Powell (Teresa) of Bailey and Shirley Linn (Wayne) of Newport; her grandchildren, Crystal Fodrie (Richard), Shantel Redfern (Stormy) of Newort, Trey Starling of Zebulon, Rita Starling of Edgewater and Timmy Starling (April) of Wilson; her friend Diane Mattox; and also Wendy Joyner. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
