He is survived by: his wife Betsy Sandifer Best; his children, Ashley Best of Raleigh, Steve Best (Jessica) of Apex and Chris Best (Sarah) of Mount Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Savannah, Walter and Harriet Best; his sister Doris Ginn of Goldsboro; and his siblings-in-law, Jeanie Donohue and Henry Skinner (Lee) of Wilson.
