He is survived by: his wife Jean Lewis Sharpe; his children, Martha Levey of Emerald Isle and William David Pope Sharpe, IV of New York City; his grandchildren, Marianna Ahlquist of Emerald Isle and William Ahlquist of Swansboro; and his sister Bettie Bagley Rowe of Thomasville.
