He was predeceased by: his parents, James Washington Strickland and Laura Gertrude Wells Strickland; his granddaughter Rebecca Leigh Cooke; his siblings, Jimmy Strickland and Anna Laura Vieau; and his pet Teddy Bear.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Marie Strickland; his daughters, Kathy Cooke (Justin Foster) of Winnabow, NC and Teresa Cooke; his brother Henry Lee Strickland of Hampstead, NC; his grandson Elton Cooke (Tracy Lee) of Wilmington, NC; his niece Renee Wilson; and his daughter Addison of Hampstead, NC. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
