She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Harp and Ezlee Winters Harp; her husband S. Vance Shields; and her sister Rebecca Frye. She is survived by: her daughter Moyra Gunter (Wayne); her grandson Myles Gunter; her siblings, Marjorie Forest (Bill) of Rural Hall and Wayne Harp (Tony) of Mocksville; her nephew David Frye (Randi); and her nieces, Sherry Brimmer (John) and Elaine O'Shields (Brian).
