He was predeceased by: his siblings, John Jr., Clinton, Claude and Mary Frances Melton. He is survived by: his parents, John Henry Williams and Minerva Shouse Williams; his wife Mescal Williams (Pete); his son Brian Williams; and his brothers, Howard (Teresa) and James (Lynn).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 5900 Providence Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
