She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Smith and Gladys Smith of Cabarrus County; her husband Clarence W. Newman; her siblings, Margaret and Wayne; and her son-in-law Ronny Whitaker.
She is survived by: her children, Danny Ray Cook (Vicky Cook) and Kelly Whitaker; her grandchildren, Ashley Howard (Scottie), Jessica Cook and Trevor Whitaker (Tiffany); and her great grandchildren, Madalynn Perdue, Colton Howard and Harlow Whitaker.
