He was predeceased by: his parents, James Anglin Whitler Sr. and Carolyn Burke Whitler. He is survived by: his son Jason Robert Whitler (Joanna) of Winston-Salem, N. C.; his grandsons, Bodhi and Luke Whitler; his close friend Kristin Marie Frantz; and his sisters, Diane Gries of New Bern, N. C., Alice Farmer (Curt) of Dallas, TX and Beth Buresh (Sheldon) of Winston-Salem, NC.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
