It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Rufus Loftin (Winston Salem, North Carolina), who passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Jones and Rose Lee Allen Loftin; and his brother Joseph Allen Loftin. He is survived by: his wife Meta Williamson Pauling; his children, Jay (Joni), Margaret (Dan) and Mary Anne; his grandchildren, Rachel Anderson (Ryan), Cara Loftin, Walt Williams, Noah Williams (Payton), Anna Herb (Langston), Martha Skinner (Micheal), Cameron Williams, Harrison White (Hope), Meta Kate Dixon (Jay) and Hadley White; and his great grandchildren, Walker, Watson White, Marlee Anderson and Georgia Williams.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (300 N Cherry St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). A reception was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
