She was predeceased by : her husband Robert Nowell. She is survived by : her children, Robert Nowell, Jr. (William Vaillancourt), Margaret Nowell and Betsy Nowell; her sister Kathryn Edwards; her niece Kathy Foster (Wade); and her cousins, Julia Williams (Roy) and Thomas Hawkins (Brenda).

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Centenary United Methodist Church (646 W 5th St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101).
