We are sad to announce that on August 17, 2025, at the age of 93, Mary Nell Long Stafford of Winston Salem, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Long and Alma Whitesides Long; her husband Ray Lemar Stafford; her daughter Rosemary Jacobson; her son-in-law Joseph Jacobson; and her siblings, Elizabeth Naffziger, Kenneth Long, Otto Long and Claude "Buck" Long.
She is survived by: her sons, Dennis Stafford (Wanda), Douglas Stafford (Barbara) and David Stafford (Melody); her grandchildren, Lauren, Jonathan, Kaitlin, Hannah, Rusty and Jacob; her great grandchildren, Nora, Ambrose, Hudson, Micah, Corrie, Hannah Reece, Hadley, Hank and A. J.; and her brother Tom Long (Brenda).
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Kernersville Chapel - Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory (3950 Macy Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, August 19th 2025 at the Mt. Gur Cemetery (1050 Cemetery St, Kernersville, NC 27284).
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Meals on Wheels at 2895 Shorefair Drive NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
