He was predeceased by : his father Americus Vespucuies Henderson; his children, Donald Ray Henderson Jr. and Tara Robertson; and his siblings, Americus Murphy, Marie Turner and Roy Henderson.

He is survived by : his children, Nicholas "Nick" Henderson of Reidsville and Tiffany "Tiff" Henderson of Graham; his siblings, Robert Henderson (Melody) of Ruffin, Wayne Henderson (Constance) of Yanceyville, James Henderson (Hazel) of Yanceyville, Melvin Henderson (Denise) of Yanceyville, Arnold Henderson of Danville, Carol Henderson of Blanch, Teresa Henderson of Yanceyville and Patricia Henderson of Milton; his grandchildren, Tamiaya Stanley (Nick), Janessa, Josh, Darren, Destiny, Iniecy, Ivree, Nicholas Jr. and NyLeke; and his close friend Debra Moore of Blanch. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
