He is survived by: his wife Josephine Feist; his children, Joell Just (Jesse) of Bismarck, Genny Welder (Dan) of Bismarck, Denise Van Beek (Gerry) of Bismarck, John A. Schatz, Linton, Cabrina McKinnon (Garry) of Rapid City, SD, Monica Calef (Walt) of Modesto, CA and Blaine Schatz of Fort Bragg, CA; and his grandchildren, Nicole Key (Chris), Janeice Pierce (Ryan), Jeremy McKinnon, Erica Batjer (Quentin), Rachael Kleffer (Devin), Erik Calef (Nicole), Carissa Cornell (Joe), Jonathan Schatz (Haley), Michael Van Beek and Matthew Van Beek (Channa). He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
