He is survived by: his wife Lyla Backhaus; his children, Laura Hirvela, Leslie Beitelspacher, Leon Beitelspacher (Therese) and Lianne Weninger (Mike); his son-in-law Tim Nierhake; and his grandchildren, Patrick Hirvela (Marie), Sanna Bader (Mike), Gus Hirvela (Danielle), Jeanne David, Naomi Faulhaber (Brian), Lyla Beitelspacher, Tommy Nierhake (April), Teddy Nierhake, Lisa Fitterer (John), Emily Bosch (Eric), Jon Beitelspacher (Jessica), David Beitelspacher, Ryan Weninger and Katie Kientopf (Tyler). He is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren.
